Okay, NOW It’s Time For The Agenda
I’ve got the same problem with the Republican convention thus far that I had with the Democrats…up to now, there have been very few specifics. McCain carries the same burden Obama did…we’ve heard the biography, we know he’s a hero, a maverick, a man of honor – but now we need to know a little about how he intends to govern.
McCain cannot match Obama in rhetoric, nor the singular shock of the Palin surprise – but he doesn’t need to. He just needs to lay out the case for his presidency by presenting an agenda that is credible, and one that covers not only foreign affairs, but the economic insecurities currently gripping the middle class. The base is ecstatic, after last night – now, the appeal must be broadened…
UPDATE 5:48 p.m.: Palin’s speech was viewed as a major event, drawing only one million less than Obama’s historic acceptance speech at Invesco Field! That’s great, great news for Republicans, considering her astoundingly good performance…

Cindy McCain actually makes it sound like John doesn’t want to blow up the entire world. Interesting. I especially enjoyed the bit she did on choosing reconciliation over retribution. Has John McCain ever turned down an opportunity for retribution?
I truthfully must tell you I only now started watching…no offense against Cindy McCain, but her speech looked like a real yawner, so I turned it off quickly…
It wasn’t great, but it certainly made clear that she’s a fundamentally decent person. I’m a little appalled that Republicans can, with a straight face, belittle Obama’s community organizing while simultaneously praising Cindy’s dad’s bravery and patriotism in making a fortune peddling booze – and then follow that up by pretending that Cindy and John are patriots for inheriting that fortune.
But there’s your answer, in the McCain video…he led the efforts to normalize realization with Vietnam…that’s reconciliation, is it not?…
“The stars are aligned”?! I thought it was the Obama people who were crazy Messiah worshipers…?
Let’s revisit this comment by Jonah Goldberg: “I prefer crowds that chant “U-S-A” to “O-B-A-M-A.” ”
I’m pretty sure this crown was just chanting “John McCain”. I’m also pretty sure my BS meter is breaking into tiny pieces.
