There Are Some Primaries Today…

…in Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington, Maryland, and Kansas (well, some for one party and not the other, and some are caucuses).  No results yet, though polling showed Obama way ahead in Maryland.  I would be not at all surprised to see Mike Huckabee win at least once today: best shot is probably the Kansas caucus.  More […]

Romney’s Mistakes

I don’t have any pithy commentary to add here, but you really should read this article by John Ellis…

Absolutely No News Of Note In The 2008 Derby Today…

…so let’s discuss the writer’s strike, shall we?
Seriously, am I the only one who was taken aback on seeing the news that Romney withdrew? I knew he couldn’t win, but I thought he was going to continue on, for some reason. Anyway, my hat’s off to him for seeing the writing on the […]

Am I Overestimating Hillary?

While Hillary Clinton is by no means the ‘inevitable’ candidate anymore, I still consider her the favorite for the simple demographic reasons that became so evident in the New Hampshire polling debacle: her support among older people, who vote in a way young people (the lifeblood of the Obama campaign) never will.
However, Jim VandeHei and Mike […]

I Guess I Should Weigh In At This Point

I’ve been waiting to post on this most crucial day until a storyline developed, but it’s been damn tough to tease out.  If there is a story this Super Tuesday, it seems to be this: Mike Huckabee has done better than any candidate with no money and no organization ever has.  He won’t win the […]

A Thought To Take Into Super Tuesday

I found a very appropriate quote today reading a book published several years ago.  The quote is appropriate in many contexts: it describes the routine venom that spews from the Angry Left, it describes the incredible flow of unbridled excess that characterizes 90% of the blogosphere (right and left), but it also describes the venom spewing right […]

Congrats To The NY Giants

One of the most improbable post-season runs I can recall concluded with a defeat of the perfect 18-0 New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.  The defense was again spectacular, but the offense really carried the day with that late 4th-quarter drive that began with only 2:35 on the game clock.
 Perfection is so unattainable…

All Eyes On The California Prize

As we celebrate Super (Bowl) Sunday on the way to Super Tuesday, one state stands head and shoulders above the rest.  The Golden State is the nation’s most populous, and this year, it represents the last best hope for Mitt Romney, and to a lesser extent, Barack Obama.  Both underdogs can point to recent polling […]

McCain-Huckabee?

It’s getting awfully hard to avoid the conclusion that Mike Huckabee is angling for the VP job in a McCain administration:
Mike Huckabee brushed off predictions Thursday that he would drop out of the Republican presidential nominating contest, but dropped new hints that he’d prefer John McCain to Mitt Romney as the party’s eventual pick.Huckabee, who […]
