In The Home Stretch Now…

Deep Thoughts

This is the bumper sticker I would most like to see (inspired by all the insipid drivel I’m forced to read in Austin traffic):

Nothing profound has ever been written on a bumper sticker - including this one.

My favorite(?) of late I spotted on the way home yesterday:

Earth Citizen For Peace

Now think about that for a minute - two remarkable things had to occur in order for me to see that bumper sticker.  First, someone had to actually think that was worth putting on a bumper sticker; second, someone had to see that bumper sticker and say, “Whoa! That’s so cool I’d like it to be on the back of my car for as long as I own it!”…I mean, really - “Earth Citizen For Peace”? How freakin’ lame is that?…

The best use of a political bumper sticker I ever heard of happened when Hillary had not yet announced her decision to run for Senator from New York. It just said “Run, Hillary, Run.” But Republicans were putting them on their FRONT bumpers.

    Heh,

I remember a great one from back in the day. It was done in the colors of the African National Congress, with the black fist upraised holding an AK, and said:

    “Reunite Gondwandaland! Stop Continental Drift!”

    It is to laugh…..

    How about:

“You can keep your commandments, I don’t want them.”

    or my personal favorite

“I don’t wear my political positions on my sleeve”

A neighbor who lives directly across the street from me has a big cross in their yard and a display of the 10 commandments. It’s very tacky with blue lights around the cross. During lent they put a purple cloth around the cross. Nothing like some purple cloth to celebrate Jesus smoking dope in the desert to bring one’s property value down.
