Well, for better or worse, the immigration bill is dead. The good news is that maybe we won’t have to be spend 60% of the time in the next Republican debate on this issue. The bad news is that nothing has been done once again.
Now, we can sit back and watch the circus. Will Peggy Noonan write a loving ode to the heroic Senators who killed the bill and saved the very soul of conservatism? Will Tom Tancredo drop out of the race, now that his only issue is dead for the year? Will any sort of bill be passed that addresses our crucial need to (a) secure our border, and (b) deal with the problem of the illegal immigrants already here in a just yet humane way?
