The Race Is On

My Obligatory Ron Paul Post

Well, the Ron Paul fans are up in arms because (a) I don’t condone them spamming the Pajamas Media Straw Poll, and (b) because I’m ‘blacklisting’ and ‘censoring’ him.  Whatever the hell that means.  It’s a personal blog, folks.  I couldn’t possibly censor anyone, I don’t have governmental power.  As for ‘blacklisting’, well, I just have to wonder what sort of newfangled dictionary you’ve got a hold of.

So here’s for all the Ron Paul fans.

Ron Paul is running for president as a ‘Republican’ (he’s actually a well-known Texas Libertarian).

Ron Paul has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.

There - satisfied?…

“Ron Paul has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.”

…so you’re saying there is a chance. ALRIGHT!

  2. 2 Dennis Says:

I’m generally libertarian in most of my political views, but the one thing that keeps me from becoming a full-fledged Libertarian with a capital L is, well, Libertarians.

  3. 3 David M. Smith Says:

I’m with Dennis. Ron Paul dose have some admirable qualities, but I would not want him making decisions for my district or my country.

  4. 4 Ken McCracken Says:

Wow, we still have Ron Paul to kick around?

    Who knew?

  5. 5 Dave Says:

I’m with Dennis. Ron Paul dose have some admirable qualities, but I would not want him making decisions for my district or my country.

I think thats the point. The Federal govt. should not be regulating and otherwise mismanaging “your district”.

Ron Paul would force congress to do it’s job and would defend states rights so you could have a better chance of influencing decisions that affect you. Dr. No … with a Veto Pen … consider the possibilites.

Of course there is always the continuation of the failing socialist experiment that so many Republicans have come to accept.

  6. 6 Gwedd Says:

    Comrades,

Of course, there is always the real possibility that Ron Paul is simply a stealth candidate angling for the Ross Perot trophy. You know, where you get enough votes away from a viable Republican candidate to ensure that the Democrats win…..

Besides which, I would never vote for anyone with two first names. If he can’t decide on which one to use, how is he going to decide on the important questions? :)

    Respects,

  7. 7 Bruce Says:

I find it hard to believe that they (Ron Paul supporters) “Spammed” the PJ Media straw poll. I suspect that those supporters just got out the word quickly and got a lot of people to vote for him. How is that wrong? Besides, EVEN IF it is true (which I seriously doubt), is that any reason to take his name off the ballot? Something smells fishy here…

  8. 8 Mark Says:

There were several thousand votes from one IP in the same week; that’s called spamming a poll.

As to why he’s not on there now, Pajamas has a rule that you have to poll at 1% in the Gallup poll to be listed.

    One percent.

You know who else is polling at less than one percent, besides Ron Paul?

    Me, that’s who…

  9. 9 Fred Says:

So you have to poll 1 percent to be listed. I didn’t know that George Pataki’s family was that big.

  10. 10 Kavon W. Nikrad Says:

It’s funny you should mention this Mark. I have been receiving email from “Ron Paul people” as well asking me to include him on my site. I keep telling them all that I need is a high-res photo of him. Apparently that’s pretty hard to come by.

I keep telling them all that I need is a high-res photo of him. Apparently that’s pretty hard to come by.

You could use the one on the congressman’s home page that says “A publication-quality .jpg file is available for download by clicking on the image.”

The “Spam” thing is being way overblown. Paul has a very devoted following around the country. Think about it, if a congressman from Texas who gets little press has supporters around the country, doesn’t it stand to reason that they are proportionally going to be more internet savy than the average candidate?

Hell the guy has been “blogging” since the late 1990s with his “Texas Straight Talk”.

  12. 12 Aaron Says:

Ron Paul has a national following because he’s the most important Libretarian politician in the country: he’s the only one who’s been elected. Never mind the fact that he had to become a “Republican” to do it. Imagine if there were only one conservative in congress and no conservatives in any higher offices. How large do you think his following would be around the country?

Libretarians are more likely to be political junkies than the average GOP or Dem simply because it’s a lot easier to be a “casual” member of a big party. Many people just go whichever way the wind blows (there were plenty of people who voted for both Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton twice). But to be a member of a small party that has no chance of ever electing a serious candidate to a significant office, you’ve got to think about politics more than the average person.

  13. 13 Eric Dondero Says:

Actually, we Libertarians view Cong. Jeff Flake of Arizona as the “most Libertarian member of Congress.” Flake has beat Ron Paul on the Liberty Index the last three years in a row.

Ron Paul used to be good. But after 9/11 he took a hard Leftwing turn on foreign policy. Here in his Congressional District his views do not match the Conservative/Pro-Bush values of voters here. That’s why he’s drawn at least two GOP primary opponents already.

Please do not associate Libertarians with just Ron Paul. The Libertarian movement is a broad-based movement which includes Pro-Defense Libertarians who love America, and want to win this War Against Islamo-Fascism.

BTW, latest poll numbers have Giuliani at 53% and climbing; Ron Paul static at 1%. You’ll see most Mainstream Libertarians backing Rudy for 2008, not Ron Paul.

  14. 14 Mark Says:

No, Dave, thousands of votes came from one e-mail address in the same week. It isn’t overblown, it’s spamming, period. If your rman is so popular, show me the national poll to prove it…

  15. 15 Jeremy Says:

What does Rudy Giuliani have anything to do with the Republican core values?
    RUDY Giuliani is:

Pro-choice; no ban on partial-birth abortions
Pro gay rights: Extended all city benefits to same-sex couples
    Opposes prayer in school
Supports Gun control: All gun owners should pass written test
    Illegal immigrants earn citizenship

republican qualities??… only an idiot republican would vote for this communist

  16. 16 Mark Says:

Aha - glad to know he can count on your support, then…
