Decision ‘08

The Aftermath

Will Texas Tech Go Dancing?

It’s been a topsy-turvy year for my Red Raiders on the basketball court: inconsistent play, only a .500 conference record, and too many losses at home have made the Big Dance less than a sure thing. There have been many great moments, too, though - three wins over top ten teams (Kansas once, and Texas A&M, incredibly, twice), and of course, Bobby Knight’s ascension to the all-time career wins throne.

The Red Raiders helped their chances immensely with a two-point victory over ranked but fading Oklahoma State today:

Jarrius Jackson hit two free throws with 14.2 seconds remaining to lift Texas Tech over Oklahoma State 59-57 on Saturday.

The Cowboys had a chance but Terrel Harris missed a 3-pointer before Mario Boggan got the rebound and stepped back to behind the arc but missed as time expired.

The loss extended Oklahoma State’s loss streak to four games. The Cowboys last win came in double overtime at home against against the Red Raiders two weeks ago.

My own guess? If Tech wins one of their last two regular season games, and at least one game in the Big 12 tourney, they’re in with a nine or ten seed.

Those of you who have ever lived in Lubbock or thereabouts will not be surprised at all to read this:

A light haze hung above the court as particles of dust from winds gusting up to 60 mph outside found their way into the arena. Crews swept the floor at every timeout to ensure players’ footing was not compromised.

Nothing like a South Plains sandstorm!…

In Lamesa today, at times you could not see to the end of our block for the duststorm. It was not a pretty sight.
    Way to go Raiders!

Yea Mark, I get to spend my Sunday repairing a section of my fence… WRECK ‘EM TECH!
