Decision ‘08

The Aftermath

Make Sure You’re Sitting Down…

…and prepare to be stunned: Joe Biden is running for president.

Sen. Joe Biden on Sunday told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

“I am running for president,” he told “Meet the Press” anchor Tim Russert. “I’m going to be Joe Biden, and I’m going to be the best Joe Biden I can be.”

The senator from Delaware went on to say that he will be filing the necessary paperwork to create an exploratory committee by the end of the month.

Biden, who is the new chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,  is considered one of the Democrats’ most experience spokesmen on international affairs.

He has about $3.5 million in his campaign account. The exploratory committee will help him raise money and gauge support. He’s already campaigned in early voting states such as New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and Nevada.

Biden may very well be the model for the phrase “legend in his own mind”.  Like Brownback, his only real impact might be to force his rivals into adopting positions to avoid being outflanked - unlike Brownback, though, it’s hard to imagine he will even have that level of relevance…

    Hi Mark,

I’m glad Senator Biden is running. When I listen to him speak, I get the sense he actually believes the things he says. Refreshing and very funny at the same time.

If Joe can manage to remain the real Joe, I am sure his campaign will be fun and entertaining, although probably not what the country needs.

  3. 3 Jojo Says:

Didn’t he already announce he was running many, many months ago? Everyone ignored him then, and I think everyone should ignore him now. He’s probably hoping that his role in the 2006 election victory for the Democrats will now give him a bit more standing in the primaries, but I really doubt anybody will remember come next year.

Joe Biden has about as much chance to be our next president as Orrin Hatch did back in 2000.

Should we discuss his plagiarism now or wait a while. You see, he is delusional.
Democrats are really hilarious, you see any democrat that announces will garner about 40% for openers. That would include Joe Biden, and the other idiot Christoper Dodd., you see they get impressed with the 40%, Why even Oprah, and Will Smith will garner 40% for openers.
