Today, Texas Tech will go a long way towards clarifying what Red Raider fans can expect from this season, as they face 4-0 (but with a creampuff schedule thus far) Texas A & M at the legendary Home of the 12th Man, Kyle Field. ABC is carrying the game nationally, so the game takes on added recruiting importance; a win here could silence the doubters (myself very much included). Go Raiders! Get your guns up!…
UPDATE 2:49 p.m.: Texas Tech draws first blood, 3-0, but, as with the other Tech game I watched on television this year, we look uncharacteristically weak at quarterback. Harrell is a disappointment thus far to this Red Raider fan…and as I’m typing this, a 99-yard touchdown return by A&M…oh, boy…yikes…7-3, A&M…
UPDATE 3:03 p.m.: This may be a long day for a Tech fan; a fumble at the A&M 1-yard line, and seven points disappear just like that…
UPDATE 3:12 p.m.: Yeah, baby! Beautiful second effort by Filani as he breaks free for a 50+ yard TD reception. Tech 10, A&M 7…
UPDATE 3:36 p.m.: A&M grabs the lead back with a devestatingly effective 15-play drive…A&M 14, Tech 10…
UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: And my Red Raiders strike back quickly…17-14, Red Raiders, and the game is on…
UPDATE 4:01 p.m.: All right, I’ve been critical of Harrell, but he is on a roll now, and Tech takes a 24-14 lead into the half behind Farrell’s 250+ first-half passing performance…
UPDATE 4:51 p.m.: Another excellent, time-consuming drive by A&M comes up a little short, but they add 3; Texas Tech 24, A&M 17…
UPDATE 5:21 p.m.: The second half has been ALL A&M. We’re all tied after another monster, 99-yard drive. Tech’s defense is clearly exhausted, and I predict that if Tech doesn’t score this next drive, they will lose…
UPDATE 5:28 p.m.: Three and out, and the momentum is all A&M; barring some big play like a turnover, we’ve lost this one…
UPDATE 5:38 p.m.: A&M 27, Texas Tech 24…2:12 to go…
UPDATE 5:49 p.m.: Oh, baby, I’ve seldom been so glad to be wrong! Touchdown, Texas Tech, with 26 seconds left, and Tech squeaks out a 31-27 win…wow…am I a believer yet in this team? Well, that was a bad second half…but I’m greatly, greatly relieved…

Since I graduated from University of Houston, I should not have a dog in this fight, but since I have many more friends who are Aggies than are Raiders, and I’ve been to Kyle Field many times, well, you can see where my sympathies lie…
