Decision ‘08

The Aftermath

9/11 Roundup

The President spoke tonight; if you missed it, you can read the transcript here

Pajamas has a solid roundup, as does Wizbang

AJ is none too thrilled with the suggestion of Chris Matthews for Ground Zero…

The Ragin’ RINOs have a 9/11-themed carnival this week, so please check it out…

And (quite appropriately) I just receive a copy of the amazing Jim Geraghty’s Voting To Kill: How 9/11 Launched The Era Of Republican Leadership; I’m anxious to see if Jim can give me any good reasons  not to believe that era may already be ending, and I’ll post a full review when I’ve read it…

    Good speech.

He takes about 5 minutes to get into it and the writer accomodated. I take it that the writer is Gerson’s replacement, but would not be surprised to see Tony Snow doing final editing.

A clarification of his 2nd inaugural speech-instead of broad generalizations about freedom and liberty, he directly applied them to the ME. This was the reason I favored the Iraqi invasion, but the broader statement of changing the ME, post 9/11, would have detrimental effects on the effort were it to be displayed prior to invasion.

Dems won’t be happy, but in appealing to the ideals that the general public holds in the US’ role in the world, I think he did well with his own base, and the few moderates left out there.

    Saw pt deux of Path.

Can anybody help me on one of the characters?

    Colleen Rowly.

I had been led to believe she was a a run of the mill fbi agent who wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Then I read her Huff puff piece and find out she was “legal counsel to the Minneapolis FBI Division.” The wikipedia entry does not explain her legal role, nor do many other articles which champion her.

She further states in her piece-

“No evidence whatsoever was presented at any time to the Justice Department of Moussaoui’s suspicious flight training and ties with terrorism. The Justice Department’s Office of Intelligence Policy and Review, which handles FISA matters, was never contacted. Furthermore, no contact was made either with criminal attorneys in the Department of Justice or with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Therefore, no decision was ever made by Department of Justice personnel regarding the given evidence and its application to FISA or criminal standards.”

The way I’m reading this, they had Moussai and his computer, but didn’t look at it, nor did their legal dept (Colleeen Rowly) seek to have it examined under FISA. The depiction of her being a bottom rung agent, conflicting with the reality that she had the computer, never looked at it, never sought to look at it, and would be the person to make the legal argument to look at it-by her own admission, and then writes an angry letter discussing DC failures post 9/11.

Is she the dud I think she is?

You got me…if I come across anything I’ll let you know. I didn’t watch part two yet, but I recorded it on the DVR - tomorrow night, maybe…
