The Most Ignorant Thing Written Yet…

…on Israel’s war with Hezbollah comes from Billmon, who beats out a half-dozen prior pieces of his own written from deep inside his anti-Israel cocoon since the outbreak of hostilities:

I don’t even know if Olmert still has hopes of carving out a notional two-kilometer-wide DMZ along the border. I mean, it’s easy enough to say such a buffer zone exists, but if the Israelis really want one they’re going to have to fight Hizbullah for every inch of it. And as I said, it’s pretty clear the Israelis don’t have much of an appetite for that kind of fighting.

At this point, and until they show me otherwise, I have to assume the Israelis now would be very happy just to get back to the status quo ante.

No, Billmon, the Israelis have no appetite for tough fighting. That’s why they’ve responded to the kidnapping of three soldiers with a show of force that has surprised the world, and that’s why they’re rejecting every attempt to impose a ceasefire that doesn’t involve the disarming of Hezbollah: because they’re weak.

Only a true fool like this dolt (who is worshipped by the ‘progressive’ left) could look at a military operation and say that, because in less than three weeks Hezbollah can still fire off some completely ineffective rocket barrages that have no military impact whatsoever, and because they managed to kill a couple of dozen Israeli soldiers, that the action has been a ‘debacle’ for Israel. Last time I checked, Olmert was still in Israel, and Nasrallah was hiding behind his puppetmasters in Damascus. I guess the fact that he hasn’t been scared all the way to Tehran means that’s a defeat for Israel, too.

What is clear is that the failure of Israel’s blitzkrieg (and at the moment, it looks like a catastrophic failure, at least politically) will have enormous repercussions in the Middle East, just as the downfall of Louis Napoleon had in late 19th century Europe. By betting the ranch on a quick, decisive victory, the Anglo-Israeli alliance has committed both a crime and a mistake. The architects may escape punishment for the former, but I think the latter is going to come back to haunt them, and probably very soon.

UPDATE 9:02 p.m.: The weak Israelis with no stomach for heavy fighting in action:

Infantrymen from the Golani and Paratroopers Brigades killed at least 50 Hizbullah gunmen and wounded hundreds more during fierce gunbattles in Bint Jbail over the weekend. Most of the wounded were from Hizbullah’s special forces and had come to reinforce the regular Hizbullah guerrillas in the village. Soldiers confiscated dozens of handguns and rifles, as well as ammunition, grenades, mines, and five anti-tank missiles there.

As Battalion 890 of the Paratroopers Brigade began to pull out of Bint Jbail, Military Intelligence personnel using an unmanned aerial vehicle spotted a group of Hizbullah terrorists on motorcycles on their way to set up an ambush for the withdrawing troops.

IDF troops deployed accordingly and engaged the enemy force, killing 26 guerrillas. Seven soldiers were wounded, including one seriously.

Since Operation Change of Direction started on July 12, more than 200 Hizbullah guerrillas have been killed, a high-ranking officer said Saturday.

Every criticism of the Israeli government’s actions in Lebanon should acknowledge the role of the Bush Administration, which has given the green light, blocked efforts for a cease-fire, and provided the weapons. And the British government, which has supported the U.S. and is allowing U.S. shipments of weapons to Israel to pass through Scotland.

1948 Israel was created by the UN.
The day after it was attacked by all Arab/Muslim countries surrounding her.
Israel won and crushed the aggressors.

Same story in 1967, 1973 and other countless wars Israel’s Arab neighbours brought upon themselves. (Did I not mention the fact that in 1973, the Arabs started a war on Yom Kippur, only the Holiest day of the Jewish year, where everyone is fasting).

The death of Yitzak Rabin is regrettable because he was an advocate of peace, yes I agree. But again lets take a look back. In 2000 the Palestinians were offered 97% of everything they wanted but Arafat rejected it. Even the President of Egypt said that rejection of this would not so much be a catastrophe, but criminal. Also, Israel is at peace with Egypt and Jordan.

In Israel, it is taught to youngsters in school how important peace is, yet in the Arab world they are taught to hate Israel and Jews more than love their own children.

Note that throughout history, it has been the xenophobic Muslims who have started wars they could not finish. Jerusalem, Spain, former Yugoslavia, Chechnya etc. Their aim is to instill Islam on the world, hence the meaning ISLAM=SUBMIT.

Tell me know who wants peace, you racists.

Also with regards to terrorists, Hizbollah. They hide behind UN and civilian buildings whilst firing rockets at Israeli civilians. And hence cause guerilla fighting. YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS WITH YOUR ARMY IN IRAQ.

Let’s be honest here for a moment. why should the israelis send infantry inside and suffer casualties if they can use their arial advantage? Israel didn’t start that war and unlike those terrorists, it seems Israel is trying not to hurt civilians while Hizbullah aims its rockets (which are by the way very affective since one katyusha can destroy a house) to the center of israeli cities… about 2000 rockets have been launched on israel, i think that if those rockets would have been launched to a european country or god forbid our beloved usa that country from which those missiles were coming from would cease to exit. Sarah Vey. There are no lies here. Just read the history of Israel. Read how it was founded. Read how David Ben Gurion said when partition was first suggested in the 1930s that while he did not like the idea of partition, he would accept it but when the Jews became strong as the result of becoming a state, they would expand to the whole area.
Read how the Palestinian Arabs were forced out in 1948 or how they fled in terror after the Irgun and the Stern Gang massacred close to 200 men, women and children at Deir Yassin. And, Sarah Vey, you know that in order to have a Jewish state, the Arab peoples had to be ethnically cleansed. Even today, Israel is trying to grab as much land as possible in the West Bank with as few non-Jews as possible.
Read the number of UN resolutions, beginning with UN Res. 194, that Israel has flouted.
Also, Sarah, read the web sites of Israeli peace groups such as Gush Shalom and Machsom Watch. Read the human rights reports of B’Tselem.
And, yes, my Israeli family does know how I feel. By the way, my Israeli family has become much smaller. Several of them became fed up with Israel and moved to the U.S.

The first reports about casualties arrived at 8:00 AM, the first pictures at 8:30 AM.

THE TRUTH:
How about 7 hours passed withput report about casualties ?

the House was attacked at 1:00 AM, how at 8:30 AM people are running away from that house ? does it take them 7 hours to get out of the burning house ?!

One injured man from Qana said in the media that the house bombed at 1:00 AM, this is also proves the Hizbullah put weapons in the houses in Qana, and actually the civilians injured because of the weapons that Bombed later at this house or another house next to it (in the pictures you can see 2 houses destroyed). the IDF bomb probabaly caused damage to the house, and later the fire bombed the Hizbullah weapons, and the building collapsed.

Moreover, in this operation died more than 10 Hizabullah people, is was reported in the media. This proves the Hizbullah involvement.

first of all, I´m not a nazi or redneck or anything like this.
I don`t hate jews. I just hate what israel is doing now. THIS IS NOT OK. and I´m afraid , israel will pay for these war crimes. I always supported israel and when I wrote to get rid of the problem, I didn´t mean israel or the jews but the israeli air force, so they would not be able to do those horrible things again, and come back to negotiations. you are definetely overestimating your own capacities . I have jewish friends and most of them a very ashamed of that armee. they always used to say, that israel would never comit war crimes, well , now we know better. one of them even sent his israeli passport back to the embassy. I´ve been to israel more than 5 times and I will be there in two weeks for a barmitzwa ,if the airport in tel aviv is still open. so when i talk about israel I know what I´m talking about. as a structural engineer I´ve also been to lebanon and I can tell you that the lebanese are beautiful , very educated and intelligent people. Of course I didn´t hang around with hezbollah. every one in lebanon tried to avoid them because they were a real problem for the lebanese. but you know, who made them so strong…YOU DID…

1. according to the UN the SHeba farms are syrian territory.
2. the Katyushas were fired upon Israel during the kidnapped and it was fired into cities way before the israeli response.
3. i’ve seen a short movie of a minute long that shows how hizbullah fires it’s missiles from the midsts of the Lebanease settelments and by so causing the destruction of those settelments.

Hizbullah is a terrorist organisation my friend, every few months it fires on israel, and the lebanease government overlooks it.
Israel has commited no crime. ISrael fires on the exact points of which katyushas were coming from. If Hizbullah fires from within the villages it’s their own problem.
the weapons are hidden inside those houses, so how can israel not bomb it?
on june 2000 israel withdrew from lebanon according to the un resolution. Sheba farms are syrian territory according to the un. Since that day Hizbullah did all that it could to bring israel back into lebanon in order to stay relevant it the political game there. Now they succeeded! however they succeeded more than they expected. Israel will not be held Hostage by terrorists organisations any longer, the lebanease government will have to take responsibility for any hostile activity coming from lebanease soil. 2 weeks before the kidnapp Hizbullah Fired KAtyuashas into Isael and israel agreed to hold it’s fire because the lebanease government requested so. However, that govenment continued to overlook Hizbullah’s actions. Now it’s up for the lebanease people to decide wether they want Hizbullah and wars or wether they’ll convince their government to disarm hizbullah, control the borders and return the kidnapped soldiers safely to israel.
Ifi was he usa that was attacked continously by a terrorist organisation that acts from another country that would not stop it, that country would be ashes today and u know it. Israel attempts not to harm any civillians so let’s bring this debate back to whee it should be, how to help lebanon to disarm Hizbullah and how to fight the world terrorism, and not wether israel is doing the right thing or not.

If you don’t believe me read Mark Twain or any of the other travel writers who visited the place long before Israel was founded. The “Zionists” are responsible for all the growth in industry and agriculture that has happened since. They are also responsible for Israel being the only outpost of liberal democracy within a 500 mile radius.

Hamas and Hizbollah don’t recognize the right of that liberal democracy to even exist. You do the freaking math. If you can’t, then I’m sure Hizbollah is taking volunteers.

And the Israelis don’t hide behind their children when fighting.

As an update to the above, unfortunately, I have had to ban a user. A user by the name of Effendi, who is now banned, came on line using profanity, calling the Holocaust a hoax, and speaking of killing Jews in the street.

I won’t have that. There are no banned ideas, but I won’t let posts that threaten physical violence or posts with excessive profanity stay on my blog.

Please, continue the debate, but I will ban any users who cannot abide by these rules…

You had NOT warned me as it was my first post, AND there was no personal attack. I did use a couple of words that some might find offensive, but so is the actions of the racist apartheid state of israel.

I will state my piece as if I were speaking to a group of respectful ladies including our mothers, but the message will be clear.

In regards to the Holo..whatever. There has been no claim from myself OR from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that it did Not occur. There is obvious recorded history of atrocities carried out against the jews as well as the Poles and many other races. The reason that so many students of history (including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) use the word “Holohaux” is because history HAS been significantly revised since that time period in order for certain aspects of the jews (not all) to play the poor innocent victim card and continue to hold the rest of the world hostage for land, time and money.

As far as my “threats” go, I was reviewing history both past and to come. Besides not mentioned in books, one can’t see it in movies made before 1978.

The Holocaust (upper case proper noun) was created in 1978. As we all know by looking in any dictionary, encyclopedia, or history book printed before this time — simply put it does not exist before 1978.

I grew up there and can exactelly tell you the truth.
germans were educated about the facts of the holocaust since the early 50s. the education plan was worked out together with the jewish society to make sure that the germans would not try to make anything look better than it really was. so they knew everything and certainly some germans even knew during the holocaust what was going on. the film “holocaust” was shown in germany in the late 70s I believe. until then , we didn´t here of the term “holocaust” , which means “flame victim ” in iwrit. It was not known to call the genocide in that way. but what difference does it make? call it massmurder on the jews, genocide or holocaust. it doesn´t matter. the fact is 6.ooo.ooo jews were killed in 10 years and the whole world was watching, even the americans. they knew from the beginning and did not offer asylant to the jews. only if they were rich and important. they waited to attack germany until the “job” was already done. then they let a lot of nazy murderer flee to america or get away with ridiculous punishments. a lot of jews was given a hard time in america . they were continously observed by the cia and fbi.

Wow, Mark, I wonder how you feel about calling Billmon’s post the “most ignorant thing ever written,” given that large portions of the Israeli electorate is now calling for the resignation of Olmert and much of the Israeli general staff and even the “cheerleaders” on the U.S. right wing are admitting that pursuing not particularly discriminating strategic bombing against emplaced Hizbollah guerillas and the civilian infrastructure of the entire people of Lebanon–including, for good measure, Hizbollah’s political opponents–was maybe not the brightest idea ever.

Your post qualifies for some sort of award–I think it would be a signature representative of an era in which war was advocated so fervently by so many with so little coherent knowledge about how to actually fight it.
