Decision ‘08

The Aftermath

Ego, Thy Name Is Jane

The great Hamsher:

I wish I could impute nefarious intent to the effort of traditional media types to make the blogosphere’s opposition Joe-nertia “all about the war,” but if I had to guess I’d say it was more due to abject laziness and a lack of native curiosity. As I’ve written many, many times before, my rabid lambiness took root during the Alito cloture vote, when Lieberman sided with the Gang of 14 to put a sexist, elitist, fundamentalist Dobson-loving bigot like Strip Search Sammy on the Supreme Court. I feared the country could not survive another one. And when interviewed for the new Time Magazine article on the race, Markos noted that he himself had said “enough” after Lieberman d**ked everyone around on Social Security.

Ah, that inimitable Hamsher class! And, of course, since the views of Jane Hamsher and Kos represent the Connecticut electorate, how right she is to take on the lazy view that Lieberman’s war stance is hurting him! Especially in light of

…a Quinnipiac University poll in May that showed 12 percent of Democrats said they would vote against a candidate solely because they disagreed with his position on the war.

But did they poll Jane? That’s all that counts (now, really, how many voters are voting against Lieberman because he was part of the Gang of 14? Let’s get serious - how many voters even KNOW what the Gang of 14 is? 6%, maybe)…

And according to the back and forth in the comments at that link, she’s going to be in Pittsburgh today. Which means we’ve got to hope for rain and a strong wind tomorrow to blow the stink out of here.
