It’s hard to find time in the school year for students to read actual literature, what with all the modern cr*p the teachers keep foisting off on them as literature. My oldest daughter was livid when she saw the syllabus and required summer reading at school. Lots of leftist oriented, feel good anti-American drivel.
I’d offer the following substitutes:
Instead of War and Peace, try John Brown’s Body…
Instead of Ulysses, try HMS Ulysses, and wear warm clothing while reading it…
