Decision ‘08

The Race Is On

Was Porter Out Of Order?

Never mind that headline, just a lame attempt at a cheap laugh…

Why did Goss leave, though?

AJ and Mac Ranger think he did his duty and went on his merry way…

Think Progress sees it as a preemptive move to avoid a burgeoning Duke Cunningham scandal involving Goss appointee Kyle Foggo…

TIME says that Goss came up on the losing end of a turf battle with Director of National Intelligence Negroponte…

And a roundup from Pajamas

Me? The jury’s still out - but my best first guess is that Goss was an indirect victim of the ongoing battle between the White House and the CIA, and he tired of presiding over an agency that is not in the best graces of President Bush. Remember, even if he was a loyal Bush man himself, the pressure from below would have practically forced him to take a stance that might have been against his natural tendencies - thus a lot of dissonance, followed by, “Who needs it?”…

Are you following this Greenwald/Goldberg thing that is brewing up? I know you have not a lot of respect for Greenwald’s venomous turn, and this is a great example of just how willfully stupid he’s become.

Oh, he’s going down with the rest of ‘em. Sources tell me this is but a blip on the radar. It’s messy and it’s abundant, just the way Washington likes it.
