Rove Perjury Decision In Next Few Weeks

That’s the story from Elisabeth Bumiller and David Johnston in today’s New York Times. The article cites ‘lawyers involved in the case’, but in this case, it’s certain that Fitzgerald’s office is leaking. How do I know that? The reporters practically say it:

Lawyers in the case said Mr. Fitzgerald would spend the coming days reviewing the transcript of Mr. Rove’s three hours of testimony on Wednesday and weigh it against his previous statements to the grand jury as well as the testimony of others, including a sworn statement that Mr. Rove’s lawyer gave to the prosecutor earlier this year. The lawyers were granted anonymity so they could speak about the internal legal deliberations in Mr. Rove’s case.

Leaving aside the question of whether Fitzgerald’s office should be leaking, I think we can agree that Fitz’s office is probably a pretty authoritative source for Fitz’s intentions, so I’m prepared to believe this timeline until shown good cause to doubt it…

Ummm, peter - it’s a play by play of Fitz’s gameplan…it’s self-evident…

Well, I give Fitzgerald more credit than that, and I wouldn’t presume to know what his game plan is — as far as I can tell, he is a modern day Elliot Ness — however Rove’s lawyers are also privy to the internal legal deliberations, as the two sides are negotiating with each other, and it is equally plausible that they leaked –
