PJ Update

Yesterday, I unveiled my own participation in Pajamas Media, and promised to keep you up-to-date on developments. I by no means have any obligation to hype or otherwise praise the group or its participants, nor they me, so let me say that I am truly sympathetic to the plight of bloggers such as Nicholas Schweitzer, who wanted to participate but were left out. You can read about Nick’s mostly negative experience here. Dennis the Peasant is positively livid about the whole thing, and his account is here.

On the positive side of the ledger, Pajamas Media announced today that it has raised $3.5 million in private venture capital:

Pajamas Media, a new media venture designed to bring together bloggers, journalists and commentators under a single umbrella, today announced it has closed its first round of private financing in the amount of $3.5 million. Pajamas Media will use this investment to build out its operations and marketing efforts and to expand its news and opinion coverage.

Much more tomorrow when the official launch happens.

UPDATE 4:17 p.m.: Dennis the Peasant links to this article that says the name will be Open Source Media…if so, I like it…we’ll find out soon enough (and no, I don’t know myself)…

  • As I said before Mark, good luck. I just hope things work out better for you than they did for Rightwingsparkle’s involvement with the Unpaid Punditry Corp (which Google can’t seem to find for me).

  • Mark,

Good luck. Keep your nose clean and watch posting to the naysayers.

This is business now and it looks like this will have a rocky launch (or is having a rocky launch).

  • Thanks again, fellows…if nothing else, it’s an interesting experiment…

  • The Open Source Media Launch

I’m a contributor to OSM, and I wish Charles, Roger, and the gang the best of luck in this venture. Now, if I could manage to get invited to this evening’s launch party…
