What’s That Thing On The Right Side Of The Blog?
That lovely ‘Bama Pachyderm, Beth, alerted me to Project Valour-IT, a very worthwhile project that bloggers are undertaking to raise funds for voice-controlled laptops and software for servicemen and women who have lost their arms or been too seriously injured to use them properly. I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend than to make even a small $5 or $10 donation and truly show our soldiers that we love and care for them and respect their courage and sacrifice. Please, if you’re willing and able, donate. I have chose the Air Force as my service branch of choice for this exercise…
Thanks in advance to each and every one of you…
UPDATE 9:22 a.m.: Well, great, it doesn’t seem to be working…please check back, it’s a great cause, and hopefully this is a temporary glitch…
UPDATE 2: Actually, the link doesn’t work in Firefox, but it does in Internet Explorer (not sure about Safari) – so if you have both, and would like to participate, please use IE to donate, and I’ll let the project folks know about the Firefox glitch!…
UPDATE: Okay, I feel stupid now…the link apparently wasn’t working on my Firefox because I had a PayPal cookie screwing it up…so it probably works on yours, but if not, just clear the cookies or log out of PayPal – but please do donate if you can and want to, it’s a great cause…

Thanks, Mark!
And you flatter me so…
xoxoxoxo!

[...] Senator McCain delivered a wonderful speech on the floor of the Senate that I’d recommend you read in its entirety as this Veterans Day winds down (and let me throw one more plug for Project Valour-IT – clearly, the Air Force team will end up short of its goal, but we’ve raised enough for about 15 systems, and the day’s not over yet). Some highlights: Despite the daily bombings and attacks, the terrorists have not achieved their goals. They have failed to incite a civil war, because Kurds and Shia still have faith in the future and in American and Iraqi security efforts. The insurgents have not prevented Iraqis from joining the military and police, in spite of horrific attacks at recruiting centers. Oil exports continue, despite concerted efforts at sabotage. And the insurgents have not stopped the political process, even while they assassinate government officials and attack polling places. [...]
