Handicapping the Indictments

Well, AJ is still holding out, and Lord knows I hope he’s right (see his latest here, as he wonders where Nicholas Kristof figures in all of this), but the MinuteMan is decidedly more convinced that, yes, indictments are coming. He puts the odds on Rove at about 51-49 that he will be indicted, and Libby at 7-3.

Myself? I’m more optimistic on Rove, more pessimistic on Libby. I put Rove at 3-1 against indicment, but Libby at 3-1 that he will be. So what happens if either or both or indicted? It won’t be pretty…the Kossacks and Huff’n'Puffers will go even more nuts than their normal insane level of nuts, and the press will pile on. Things aren’t going to get any prettier for a while for fans of GWB. A suggestion: assuming the Iraqi Constitution passes, counterattack with this line: “It’s unfortunate that all of these legal manueverings over the events of two years ago are distracting our attention from the heroic struggles of the Iraqi people to plant the seeds of democracy. The legal system will take care of this matter; our job is to focus on the issues at hand.”
