Singular, because only one of these beings is sentient: John McCain met with deranged anti-Bush zealot Cindy Sheehan, and how was he rewarded? Let’s take a look:
“He is a warmonger, and I’m not,” Sheehan said after meeting with McCain. “I believe this war is not keeping America safer.”
“She’s entitled to her opinion,” McCain said. “We just have fundamental disagreements.”
Gee, makes you wonder why Bush doesn’t meet with her (again)…
UPDATE 11:00 a.m. central: McCain says he was misled into meeting Sheehan:
After their afternoon meeting, Sen. McCain was interviewed on the Sean Hannity Show (radio). Sean asked the Senator about the meeting…
HANNITY: Let me ask you about your meeting with Cindy Sheehan today. I don’t have a lot of time. How did it go?
McCAIN: Uh, we agreed to disagree. I was a little disappointed, and let me tell you why. I got a letter from her, which I got in my hand. It says, “I am a constituent of yours. I, along with a number of constituent mothers representing Cindy Sheehan from Arizona …” basically. OK? So, I agreed to meet with her, and nobody, no mother or family member from Arizona showed up.

Add this incident to yet another reason not to hope McCain wins the nomination - he’s just pandering now to whatever looks opportunistic for him at the moment. I used to like the guy - in fact, I would’ve voted for him when he ran against Bush - but this is beyond the pale, giving this bloviator more than her allotted 15 minutes of fame.

I fail to see how this represents anything like “pandering”. I would meet with her too. Of course, then I would tell everyone who would listen that she’s absolutely insane, but that’s another thing…

Ryan: I understand the point you are making in principle, but I think this incident does undermine that McCain suffers from a certain amount of guillibility about the motives of our country’s critics.
If had bothered to lean more about Sheehan than what the MSM has seen fit to report (complete with their convenient scrubbing of her more risable, paranoid, anti-American and/or just plan insane statements) he would have known nothing good would have come out of the meeting. McCain instead simply took the MSM’s characterization of her at their word, and wound up with egg on his face. He did have the decency to rebuke her comments, but he would have been better off not legitimizing her in the first place.

Wow, I wish I had a senator who would meet with his constituents. Most of Alabama’s congressional delegation couldn’t be bothered to meet with anyone from their home state in person, or even over the phone.
