You were right that it would be political suicide — but one of the things I like about Schwarzenegger is that that’s not a big issue for him. He’s not eligible for President, and I doubt he wants to serve in a legislature. So, every once in a while, he can do something shocking, and get away with it.
I assume what he means by “or the courts” is that a dispute over the semantic games the legislature is playing, or the constitutional issue of the interaction between a referendum and a law, is the purview of the courts. Sounds okay to me.

Knemon, if that’s the case, I stand corrected…I took it to mean he thought the courts should decide the larger issue and not the legal details…
