Does anyone have a full version of this quote, or know the context?
I certainly believe idiotarian-in-chief Pat Robertson is capable of spewing such nonsense — but I’d love to know who he thought he was talking to, and in what context.
It is being shown on all the cable shows. My guess is CNN, FOX or MSNBC probably has rhe clip up. I have heard it and there is no question what he meant.
with that question i guess the “G” rating is lost at Doh8.
my question would be who the hel(p) do you think you are?
my context is, circa february 2001, i was cable surfing one sunday afternoon at my mom’s (i’m too cheap to get cable myself). as i went though the 700 club telecast channel i distinctly remember hearing pat robertson complain about bush (please note he did not say president bush, he said bush) not appointing enough suitable candidates to prominent government positions. he went on to say that he was fed up with bush and something needed to be done about it.
you don’t think he meant……….
Gasp! louielouie, you’re on to something….but as regards the ‘G’ rating – we can lose the ‘G’, I don’t want to lose the ‘PG’!. The following curse words are acceptable: damn, hell, shucks, ‘arse’, ‘bullocks’, freakin’, and ‘Chomsky’.
I’m not sure… didn’t the FCC issue a correction to the recommended status of “Chomsky” vis-a-vis blog ratings, downgrading blogs with too-frequent mention of the MIT-linguist-who-must-not-be-named from Pretty Good to Rant (or even No-Content 17)?
Having just read the NYT article Mark pointed out–
Is it really too much to ask that the NYT, the paper of record, note the difference between democratic leaders and Marxist dictators?
Reading the whole piece, it seems like the main thrust of the article is to take a handful of entirely reasonable things that Pat Robertson said, like: “Mr. Robertson asserted that Mr. Chávez had “destroyed the Venezuelan economy” and was turning Venezuela into “a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.” ” and discredit these obvious facts by putting them next to a few of his more idiotic quotes.
Huhray…Huhray…Huhray…Step right up ladies and gents. See the strangest and oddest collection of cluebats on planet earth! “If they’re clueless, we’ve got ‘em” is our motto. Die-rect from Washington city …
“thinking”…
You are giving him too much credit.
Where was his Christian heart?
Chavez is a harmless nutcase with delusions of granduer.
Ignoring him was the best way to torture him.
Cheers, AJStrata

Clint, here’s a story from our good buddies at the New York Times that has a videoclip off to the side. I couldn’t find a transcript yet…
