How I Learned To Get Rich From The Huffington Post

Pssst….you guys…I’ll let you in a secret: I’ve got a surefire way for all of us, every last one, to get rich. July 19, 2007, has been deemed ‘Blogosphere Day’ by the Leftie bloggers, and they will raise a ton of money and give it to one of the Democratic candidates. When they do that, go buy (buy? Yes, buy, bear with me) that candidate’s contract at TradeSports. The media will eat it up, the candidate will get a huge boost, in the manner of Howard Dean, and we’ll hear all kinds of talk about the new frontrunnner.

Then, in December, 2007, just before Christmas, sell. That’s because when the actual primaries come around, and real people have a chance to express themselves on their nominee, there’s no chance they’ll want any part of whatever leftwing yahoo the Kossacks dredged up.

If there are no sure things, this is pretty damn close…

  • Or, even better, buy before they give them all the money and sell it short after it rockets up, to hedge yourself against gradual market movement. Of course, that assume it’s known who they donate to, but c’mon, it’s basically Hillary, right? I don’t see Bayh getting it.

  • I don’t think so, Keith…I don’t get the feeling the leftie bloggers are exactly in love with HRC. I suspect they will go with someone more ‘progressive’, in the mode of a Howard Dean…We’ll know way ahead of time by watching the Kos, though…

The candidate I’ve seen the most enthusiasm for at Kos and DU has been Wesley Clark. It’s identity politics, basically: they think his military background and southern ties will appeal to the red-staters, who will overlook his ties to Michael Moore and Clinton, etc. You would think these self-described smart people would have noticed how badly that tactic worked with war hero Kerry and southerner Edwards, but I don’t think they have much of a learning curve.

  • Wesley Clark – we should be so lucky! Please, oh, please, let the nominee be Wesley Clark…

Be careful what you wish for. You may get it.

They learn nothing and they forget nothing. Potent stuff, that.

  • You know, I haven’t done a candidate profile in a while…you guys think Wesley Clark is really in the hunt?…

I think the Demos will pick someone from a straight politico background…Wes clark did not show well in 2004, not just late to the game, but no game

  • Fred

When you say Wesley Clark, think Senator John Kerry without the charisma.

  • You know, Jim Kramer of CNBCs team of financial scene analysts Kuldow & Kramer said shortly after the ’04 election something to the effect of “the Democrats need to nominate someone like a baseball hall-of-famer or someone from NASCAR. No more senators.”

He was sneered at but he had a point, I thought.
