Decision ’08 2.0 Unveiled
Well, here it is. I hope you like it. I was shooting for a clean and elegant design, uncluttered, and professional, with easy navigation. Did I succeed? I’m really interested in your comments (truly – nothing is set in stone).
I spent a lot of time trying to get the Cascading Style Sheet modified to look decent in both Firefox and IE. Links are blue, until you read them, then they turn bold. You can register as a user, if you like, but for now, registration is not required to comment.
There are several items still to take care of, but I thought things were far enough along to make the switch. I’m still working on the categories and links (if you’re not on the links page yet, don’t be offended; I’m still adding sites), and the vast majority of the posts are uncategorized (I have to go in and switch them one by one, and there are roughly 1600, so that will be a work in progress for several weeks, probably). I imported comments on Tuesday, so all your comments since then are not here (though I plan to recreate them, if it’s not too difficult – don’t worry, I won’t change your words). And of course, there may be other revisions to come.
Please let me know how the commenting works, try to send a trackback if you have a blog, put the thing through its paces. This site is for me, but it’s for you, too, and I appreciate your support. I sincerely hope this redesign makes for a more rewarding experience.
Update 08/13/03 9:18 a.m. central: I sent out some blegs for help publicizing this, and many of you have responded already, including PoliPundit, AJStrata, Jeff at Protein Wisdom, La Shawn Barber, the good Dr. Shackleford, our good friend Nettie, Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, Jon Henke, John Hawkins at Right Wing News, the great Tom Maguire, Betsy Newmark, Commonwealth Conservative, Leon H at Red State, Eric at Viking Pundit, the great and soon-to-be-sorely-missed Arthrur Chrenkoff, The Political Teen, and the Anchoress. Thanks to all of you and anyone else I may have missed or failed to mention.

WOW! This looks great!
Smart move, Mark; WordPress is the shite!
Hey, and you went with Blogs About, too! Even better!

Now I know I left a comment earlier .. where did that little thing go? The look is great …. clean and a great 3 column lay out.
Nice and clean – I am big fan of wordpress.
[...] OK, well Mark May not be new, but he has just launched his new Decsion ‘08 site here – and it looks excellent. Moving to WordPress seems to have done Mark quite well. [...]
Looks great! Much more condensed and easy to find things. I know you are working the categories (and with the amount of posts you have in the archive that has to be one long effort) – but I was wondering where the Coalition of The Chillin’s went to?
Cheers!
AJ, the Coalition blogroll screws up my borders on the sidebars, so I have to tweak that a little…also, I will add the Coalition as a category, as you surmised.
Thanks to everyone for the early feedback, I’m heartened to see that it is positive. Jo, you mentioned wondering where your comment went…I had five comments waiting moderation…so I may have to adjust the settings. Not sure why…did you register as a new user?
Great work, Mark. Super readable, great color and font choices. All the WordPress blogs I’ve seen seem to look great.
Many thanks, Jeff…I’m pretty pumped about how it turned out…
Mark, I do like the new blog look. The green background is nice and the words flow nicely and are easy to read.
