The Aftermath

Prof Bainbridge: Why I’m For the Deal

Professor Bainbridge, sick of blogging about the deal (and to my regulars, we’ll get back to normal soon, don’t worry), wraps up his thoughts in an excellent article at Tech Central Station. Highly recommended (he gives the Coalition a plug, too - as well as the t-shirts (don’t wait to get yours, they’re going quick!))…

Those are great T-Shirts to show one’s love for Senator Byrd and Barbara Boxer and the bunch. Pick one up for me to the next “Hate Bush” rally. The Liberals are wearing them like it is their only shirt as they dance in the streets, laughing at how weak the Conservative base is.

I can hear the liberals outside of my window now, “Ha ha.. Conservatives will just let us do whatever we want without putting up a fight.”

    No, Jeff.

Just wait till Leader Frist brings the other four to the floor (two still have to clear committee), and when Scalia gets tapped for Chief Justice.

In due time. In due time.

    Also,

    Blogroll updated.

Think we should add Tim Goddard

I was thinking the same thing. Once Saad and Meyers are voted on then send them to all the doubters….

56 members in just a few days. And references now across the web (Brainbridge)

I remember your initial post where you doubted the coalition wouldn’t amount to much.

Obviously a lot of us weren’t buying the loud conservative handwringing and wanted a way to vent to all the doomsayers.

Yep, I started this as a lark (and on some level, we’re all just having a little fun, I know), but it’s gratifying to see the response…

jeff, please, spare me your histrionics…I’m no more a fan of Barbara Boxer and Robert Byrd than you are. With all due respect, it’s because of people like yourself that think the only good Republican is the one that agrees with you that this coalition is doing so well. We’re all on the same side here, so mind your manners, please…

Ryan, I thought we had Timothy already, by all means, let’s add him…and thanks again for all your help! (You guys are checking out Ryan’s blog, aren’t you?)…

    Y’all miss the point.

In all of your gleefulness over a vote on Particia Owen you forget that part of the DEAL puts an AXE on getting rid of the filibuster until AFTER election 2006. The results of election 2006 might make it tougher to vote down the filibuster. I was all excited and hopping up and down for the filibuster to be killed prior to this deal.

    Many others were also excited…

Conservatives were given a trust. That trust was broken.

And no… Reprecutions against the Republican party will come. And it will come specifically because of this. The way I feel about this is well words can’t describe it.

Last time I felt like this was when Edwards (John kerry’s running mate) talked about fighting the results of the election.

So laugh and high five all you want but you miss the point on this one. The end result of ignoring the trust you give to the Conservatives is equal to a whole lot of votes.

In the end.. The judicial nominees getting voted in won’t really matter. We don’t just ignore what happened because the end result came in our favor. Respect is the most powerful thing to earn and the most devastating thing to lose.

When you win 3 elections in a row isn’t it time to act like it?
